Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 July 2026

Collection Resort ("we", "our", or "the app") helps Shopify merchants automatically sort and merchandise the products inside their collections — putting bestsellers first and pushing sold-out items down. This policy explains what information we access, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to make the app work, and we never sell your data.

01

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to Shopify store owners and staff who install and use Collection Resort. When you install the app, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.

Collection Resort works with your store's data on your behalf. We do not interact with your customers directly, and we do not control how Shopify itself handles data — Shopify's own privacy terms apply to your store separately.

02

Information we access

To sort your collections, Collection Resort requests permission to read and write specific parts of your Shopify store. We access:

  • Collection data — titles, handles, type (smart or custom), publication status, and the product order within each collection, so we can re-sort and merchandise them.
  • Product data — titles, tags, vendor, product type, creation dates, images, and pricing, so our sorting rules can rank products.
  • Variant & inventory data — stock levels and variant availability, so we can push sold-out products down and detect broken size runs.
  • Order data — read-only access to order line items, used solely to calculate product revenue and units sold for revenue-based and best-selling sorts. We do not store customer details from orders.
  • Store profile — your store name, domain, plan, timezone, and contact email, used for account setup, scheduling, and support.
We do not collect customer personal information, payment card details, shipping addresses, or order contents beyond the aggregated sales figures needed to rank products.
03

How we use your information

We use the data we access only to operate the features you choose to use. Specifically:

  • To apply the sorting strategies and refinement rules you configure to your collections.
  • To run scheduled and automatic re-sorts, including re-sorting when inventory changes.
  • To keep products you have pinned or featured at the top of a collection.
  • To calculate the metrics our sorting rules rely on — revenue, units sold, inventory levels, variant availability, and product age.
  • To show you previews, sort reports, and history inside the app, and to let you undo a sort.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.

We never use your data for advertising, and we never sell or rent it to third parties.

04

Google Analytics (GA4) connection

Collection Resort offers optional sorting strategies based on product page views and conversion rate. These require you to connect a Google Analytics 4 property.

If you choose to connect GA4, you authorise us through Google's standard OAuth flow. We request read-only access and retrieve only aggregated product-level metrics — such as page views per product over a recent time window — which we use to rank products in your collections.

  • The connection is optional. Every other sorting strategy works without it.
  • We store your GA4 property identifier and an encrypted access token so scheduled sorts can refresh your metrics.
  • We do not access individual visitor data, demographics, or any personally identifiable analytics information.
  • You can disconnect GA4 at any time from the app's settings, or revoke access from your Google account.
05

AI merchandising assistant

When you use Collection Resort's AI features — such as asking for a recommended sorting rule or describing a sort in plain English — the relevant information is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a suggestion. This may include your collection name and aggregated product statistics, together with the text you type.

This data is used only to produce the requested output and is not used to train third-party models. AI features are optional: they run only when you click an AI action, and you can review every suggested rule before applying it.

06

Data storage and security

We store the minimum data needed to run the app — such as your store identifier, your sorting strategies and rules, pinned products, schedules, and a history of recent sort jobs including the previous product order so you can undo a change. This information is stored on secure servers with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.

We cache product and collection metrics (such as revenue totals and inventory levels) so that scheduled sorts run quickly and reliably without repeatedly querying your store. This cache is refreshed from Shopify and is not your permanent catalogue of record.

Access to stored data is restricted to authorised personnel who need it to operate or support the app.

07

Data retention and deletion

We retain your strategies, rules, schedules, and sort history for as long as the app is installed. When you uninstall Collection Resort:

  • We stop accessing your store immediately.
  • Your stored settings, rules, and sort history are deleted within 30 days.
  • You can request immediate deletion by contacting us.
Please note: uninstalling the app does not revert your collections to their previous order. The product order last applied by Collection Resort remains in place until you change it in your Shopify admin.

Shopify also sends us mandatory data-erasure requests on behalf of merchants and customers, which we honour in line with Shopify's requirements.

08

Your rights

Depending on where your business is located, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about your store. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

You can also revoke Collection Resort's access at any time by uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin.

09

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time as the app evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app. Continued use of Collection Resort after an update means you accept the revised policy.
